If you aren’t convinced that you have difficulties keeping anger under control, it might help you to read books by people who are. Many of the biggest experts in anger management had problems with anger themselves. A clinical background can help you to understand anger issues, but sometimes there’s no substitute for experience. Reading these books can really give you some perspective. It can let you know that you’re not alone and show you where to get help.

There are many different ways to get anger management help. A lot of people really enjoy support groups. An anger support group is just like a support group for any other problem. It allows people to share experiences, swap ideas back and forth, and pool their resources. It makes everyone accountable for their behavior. When you are on your own, you can deny your anger issues all you want. When you are with your anger support group, however, they know you. They can tell when you are not taking responsibility and dealing with your anger.

Of course, if you really want to effectively manage anger problems, you are probably eventually going to have to go to some kind of counseling. It doesn’t have to be therapy. There are many different kinds of anger management treatments. Psychotherapy is focused on finding the underlying causes of anger. Behavioral therapy, on the other hand, is much more practical. It focuses on strategies that you can use when you see yourself getting angry, and ways to break harmful behavior patterns.
